Before now, the only friends I had were in my head.

I encourage everyone to watch this one because it's a very moving moment!
- In trouble, Mako is cleaning the bathrooms as punishment when she comes across Ryuko and some strange dude cornering her with a weaponized sewing machine. "Now take off your clothes, you have no chance of winning!"
- Ryuko's uniform pulls itself free of her body and throws itself at Sewing Guy, who shoots it and pins it to the ground with needles.
- He tries to tell Ryuko that Senketsu was abandoning her -- but no, Ryuko insists, it was trying to save her --
- And Mako slams the burly guy in the back with a wet broom.
- "This uniform is the only clothing Ryuko has. And look at what you've done to it. Don't you have any idea how people who only own one set of clothes feel?" AND THEN HE SLIDES BY HER and Mako falls on the ground :')
- "Who is this?" HALLELUJAH CHORUS TIME.
- "Taking the clothes off of someone like that is the same as taking away a friend!" AND SHE THROWS HERSELF BACK IN A BRIDGE, grabbing onto the bottom of Senketsu. "This clothing is Ryuko's friend!"
- The guy insists that clothing and people can't possible communicate, to which Mako violently disagrees.
- "Up until now, the only friends I had were in my head. But then I met Ryuko-chan and made a real one! A girl like that could totally make friends with clothing! More to the point, she already has!"
- Mako rips Senketsu up from the ground and hands him gently back to Ryuko. "Shame on you. You should take better care of your friend."
- Ryuko thanks her, touched, and curls around Senketsu. Mako watches for a few seconds before remembering that she's supposed to be cleaning as punishment, and leaves with a wave.
